This inspirational feature-length film, an official Dalai Lama documentary, tells the incredible true story of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Chinese-occupied Tibet in 1959, with His Holiness Dalai Lama telling his story in his own words for the first time on film.

GESHE TENZIN ZOPA

Geshe Tenzin Zopa is a Tibetan Buddhist monk of the Mahayana tradition. Geshe Zopa entered Sera Jey University in 1990 to undertake extensive studies in Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and graduated as a Geshe in 2007. For a more complete biography of Geshe Zopa please click here.

One of the most significant moments in 20th Century history, His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama reveals the details of his incredible escape into exile for the first time on film in his own words with the Indian Government Official who led him to the plains of India safety, Har Mander Singh, Padma Shri.

Featuring exclusive access to the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan community in exile, the Indian political officer who led him to safety and those with historic ties to Tibet.

The film explores the Dalai Lama’s compassion for a world seemingly in crisis today and seeks to find what can be learnt from his inspirational life story, the Tibetan culture and its ancient spirituality.
